Biography
Phil Ferraro brings over 25 years of developed expertise through his diverse experiences as an entrepreneur, farmer, marketer and teacher. His years working in the agricultural sector have provided him with proficient abilities in organization, project management, consulting, and research. After receiving his master's degree in Social Ecology, Phil took on many challenges as a the President and Horticulturalist at Shades of Harmony Ltd. in Nova Scotia where he founded Atlantic Canada’s premier certified organic farm, landscape and greenhouse business. He then became a sessional lecturer at the University of Prince Edward Island where he delivered a social ecology program. As the Director of the Institute for Bioregional Studies Ltd., Phil managed this non-profit, charitable organization that specialized in research, consultation, and skill development. Prior to joining the Bioenterprise team, Phil developed a regional network in Atlantic Canada while working with the PEI ADAPT Council. As the Council’s executive director, Phil assisted the agriculture and agri-food industry on Prince Edward Island to become more diverse while also strengthening the leadership and management of environmentally sustainable production. Phil is currently the Director of Bioenterprise Maritimes. He is also a ‘Certified Sustainability and Responsibility’, (CSR) practitioner with advanced knowledge and comprehensive skills for bringing added value and authenticity to Bioenterprise Maritimes.
